Young people in Australia are classified as being between the age of 12-25 and youth workers foster the connectedness of young people to the community and provide support and advocacy services.
Each local government council will also generally have a hangout space for young people that is staffed by Youth Workers. Local government websites also provide information about services and programs relevant to youth in their areas.
For example, in the Whitehorse Council area, there is a drop-in centre called Youth ConneXions. It is located in Box Hill Shopping Centre and provides support services to young people such as study support, programs, referral, and counselling and support services as needed.
