Oxford Music Online

Look up history, theory, composers and compositions in the New Grove Dictionary online. It's a good idea to get familiar with the print version first.

Oxford History of Western Music

Read Taruskin's insights into history and the great composers - the same text as the book, but a searchable e-book format!

E-Books

Books - by Subject

The Nelson Library has a wide range of books on Music History.

The Library has assigned subject headings to the books in the collection. Some headings will link through to many titles, others only one or two. The headings may not always be comprehensive, so when you find a good book, try browsing the shelf nearby for more.

Tip: Try searching a composer's name as a keyword in the Discovery catalogue.

You may place a HOLD on any title that's on loan.
