Libraries and AI: ChatGPT

ChatGPT

What students need to know about ChatGPT

Don't rely on ChatGPT for finding academic resources and databases: use databases from the Box Hill Institute's library database list.

Don't use ChatGPT to write essays: copying ChatGPT's answers is plagiarism, can be detected (leading to academic penalties), lower trust between student and educator, does not develop critical thinking skills and confidence, and can include misinformation.

Avoid sourcing factual information from ChatGPT: ChatGPT can sometimes give you outdated, out-of-context, and incorrect information. Use trusted sources, such as credible websites (e.g., government owned or credible author/publisher).
