Education Support: Well-being

Resources in the Library

First Aid

Providing minor First Aid when required, within organisational policies and procedures, is an important aspect of supporting the wellbeing of students.

Emergency First Aid is to be provided by a trained person when possible - however it is important to be aware of emergency first aid protocol, DRSABCD.

Danger - Check for any danger. Ensure the area is safe for both you and the patient

Response - Check their responsiveness. Remember COWS - Can you hear me? Open your eyes. What happened? Squeeze my hands.

Send - Send for help. Call 000 and if possible, send a specific person to obtain assistance from a trained first aider.

Airways, Breathing, Circulation, and Defibrillation should be completed only by a trained first aider, or while being walked through the process by 000.
