Youth Services: Juvenile Justice

A guide to library and information resources on Youth Services.

Juvenile Justice

The Juvenile Justice system is for young people under the age 18 who have committed criminal offences. The Juvenile Justice system is similar to the adult criminal justice system in terms of sentencing, probation and arrests etc. but it is set up to try to reform and rehabilitate young people to re-enter society and reduce the possibility of re-offending. The Juvenile Justice system aims to protect young people from adult offenders and lessen the negative influences that adult influencers have on young people by separating them from the adult justice system and having separate prisons and rehabilitation centres to try to reform young people.
